Allah’s mercy is endless, and the seasons of goodness continue to return. Alhamdulillah, we are now in the months of Hajj, —days in which believers reflect on the oneness of Allah and the obedience of His khaleel, Sayyiduna Ibrahim (ʿalayhis-salam).
These blessed days culminate in the great act of Qurbani which commemorates the submission of Ibrahim ‘alayhis-salam, whom Allah inspired with offering his son, Isma’il, as a sacrifice to Him.
In response to this profound act of obedience, Allah ransomed Isma’il with a ram which Ibrahim (ʿalayhis-salām) sacrificed instead. And Allah says, ‘And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice (i.e. a ram).’ [37:107]
In honour of this, Muslims sacrifice animals as an act of worship to Allah. Offering this Qurbani is a Sunnah of our forefather Ibrahim, and our beloved Final Messenger ﷺ. Qurbani is one of the great symbols of Islam. It is an emphasised Sunnah and carries immense reward.
‘Therefore turn in prayer to your lord and sacrifice (to Him only).’ (108.2)
You can offer your Qurbani with Muslim Help UK in one of the following countries. Not only can you fulfil the Sunnah, but you’ll also bring joy to the poor and forgotten.
